Great Ogboru Emerges Delta APC Governorship Candidate

Great Ogboru on Monday emerged the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Delta governorship election.

According to results announced by the returning officer, Lawrence Onoja, Ogboru polled 3,292 to emerge the governorship candidate of the party.

Though a faction of the party led by Cyril Ogodo had on Sunday announced Prof Pat Utomi as the winner of the Delta APC governorship primaries, Onoja said the election conducted by the faction was entirely a ruse as Ogodo and his group was expelled from the party.

The results announced by Lawrence Onoja are as follows: Victor Ochei 160, Cairo Ojuogbo 12, and Great Ogboru 3,292 votes.

Meanwhile, an aspirant for the Delta South senatorial district, Itse Elijah Wilkie, Newsmen on Monday night that the primaries held by Ogodo would not stand the test of time.

He stated that the Prophet Jones led faction that produced Ogboru was backed by the National Chairman of the APC Adams Oshiomhole.

Wilkie, however, noted that the NWC tried to settle the issues between the two factions but the Ogodo faction refused the settlement.
