Obasanjo, Babangida Absent as Gowon, Abdulsalami, Jonathan, Buhari Pass Vote of Confidence on Tinubu

In a significant show of support, past Nigerian leaders have unanimously passed a vote of confidence on President Bola Tinubu’s leadership. The National Council of States (NCS) and the Nigerian Governors’ Forum convened separate meetings, both culminating in this endorsement.

Former Presidents Muhammadu Buhari and Goodluck Jonathan, along with Generals Yakubu Gowon and Abdulsalam Abubakar, attended the Council of States meeting.

General Gowon and General Abubakar participated virtually, while Chief Olusegun Obasanjo and ex-military President Ibrahim Babangida were conspicuously absent.

The vote of confidence was based on presentations by President Tinubu’s ministers regarding the implementation of the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda. The Nigerian Governors’ Forum also expressed confidence in President Tinubu’s leadership.

The absence of Obasanjo and Babangida adds intrigue to this development, leaving questions about their stance on Tinubu’s administration unanswered
