Ondo State PDP Primary Election: A Decisive Day for Democracy

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State is set to conduct its governorship primary election today. The event, which will take place at the International Culture and Events Centre (The Dome) in Akure, is expected to draw a total of 627 delegates from the 18 council areas of the state.

The primary comes on the heels of the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election, which saw Governor Lucky Ayedatiwa emerge victorious last Saturday. Today’s primary will determine the PDP candidate who will challenge the incumbent in the upcoming state elections.

Among the contenders is former Deputy Governor Agboola Ajayi, who has voiced his confidence in winning the primary with a comfortable margin. The list of aspirants also includes notable figures such as Chief Sola Ebiseni, Prince John Ola Mafo, Bamidele Akingboye, Adeolu Akinwumi, Bosun Arebuwa, and Hon. Kolade Akinjo.

The primary election will be overseen by a 7-member Primary Election Committee, led by Bayelsa State Deputy Governor, Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo. The process is set to begin with the accreditation of delegates at 10:00 a.m., and all non-delegates have been advised to maintain a reasonable distance from the venue.
