President Bola Tinubu has appointed Ojukaye Flag Amachree as the Director of Energy Security in the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA).
The appointment was announced in a statement by ONSA’s Head of Strategic Communications, Zakari Mijinyawa,
He described the appointment as part of the government’s commitment to ensuring a stable, sustainable, and secure energy supply for the country.
The statement highlighted that this move underscores President Tinubu’s focus on bolstering energy security and addressing supply chain issues.
“In his new role, Amachree will oversee key national energy security initiatives aimed at enhancing energy security, as well as strengthen community participation in safeguarding Nigeria’s energy resources to support short and long-term energy sustainability,” the statement read.
“The National Security Adviser, Malam Nuhu Ribadu, congratulates Hon. Flag Amachree on this appointment.”
Amachree will work closely with various stakeholders, including government ministries, security agencies, energy sector regulators, international partners, and community leaders, to implement solutions to Nigeria’s energy challenges.
According to the statement, Amachree who holds degrees in Management and is an alumnus of the Lagos Business School, is well-positioned to lead this critical unit.
The Energy Security Directorate, a newly created unit in ONSA, is tasked with coordinating policies, protecting critical infrastructure, managing data, providing security coordination, offering risk advisory services, and building strategic alliances within Nigeria’s energy sector.
