Police Declare Retired Officer and Seven Others Wanted in Enugu State

The Enugu State Police Command has declared eight crime suspects wanted in connection with alleged murder and terrorism. The announcement was made by the police spokesperson, Deputy Superintendent Daniel Ndukwe, in a statement released on Monday night.

Among the suspects is 47-year-old Uche Asogwa, a retired police officer originally from Ovoko, a community in the Igbo-Eze South Council Area of Enugu State. Asogwa currently resides in Igga, another community in the Uzo-Uwani Council Area of the state. The other suspects include Gabriel Emebe (41), Ogechukwu Ogbonna (26), Chimezie Ugwu (21), Chizoba Ogbuabor (36), and Evarestus Eze (43). Additionally, Jude Nebeolisa (27) and Chitor Okechukwu (28) are also among those declared wanted by the police.

All the suspects are male residents of Igga Community. The police have attached photographs of the suspects to the statement. According to Mr. Ndukwe, the suspects are wanted for crimes including conspiracy to commit murder, terrorism, kidnapping, armed robbery, arson, and unlawful possession of firearms. He urged Nigerians to assist in apprehending the suspects if seen in their neighborhoods.

The police provided contact numbers for reporting information that could aid in tracking down the wanted individuals, promising a monetary reward for credible tips. Although specific details of the alleged crimes committed by the suspects were not disclosed, it is believed that the declaration is related to the recent killing of two police operatives and three vigilante members in Igga Community in early May.

The Enugu State Police Command remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of residents, and this move underscores their determination to bring the suspects to justice. Citizens are encouraged to cooperate with law enforcement in their efforts to maintain peace and order in the state.
