Gunmen Target Ondo Bus, Abducts Passengers

A group of gunmen attacked an 18-seater commuter bus traveling in Ondo State on Saturday evening, abducting an unknown number of passengers. The incident occurred along the Ikare-Akoko/Ado Ekiti highway near Irun-Akoko.

Details regarding the exact number of abducted passengers remain unclear. However, authorities confirmed that some passengers managed to escape the gunmen. Ondo State’s Amotekun security corps, alongside soldiers from neighboring Ekiti State, launched a search and rescue operation throughout the night. The search for the remaining passengers is ongoing.

Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, the police public relation officer, confirmed the attack and investigation. This kidnapping incident adds to the growing concern over rising insecurity in several Nigerian states.
