Ondo Celebrates Children’s Day with Food and School Supplies

In celebration of Children’s Day 2024, Ondo State Governor, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has announced the distribution of essential items to students and education stakeholders across the state.

According to Rt. Hon. Victor Olabimtan, Executive Chairman of the Ondo State Universal Basic Education Board (ODSUBEB), the distribution includes staple foods like rice, Indomie noodles, garri, and pupuru, all pre-packaged in 10kg bags. Additionally, students will receive essential school supplies like notebooks.

The flag-off ceremony for the distribution will take place on Tuesday, May 28th, 2024, at 10:00 AM at St. James’ CAC Mega Primary School in Irowo, Akure.

Olabimtan explained that this initiative is part of the state government’s ongoing efforts to address the rising cost of living and encourage increased enrollment in public primary schools. He highlighted the importance of the Federal Government’s School Feeding Programme in combating out-of-school children and praised Governor Aiyedatiwa’s commitment to education, especially considering current budgetary constraints.

The ODSUBEB Chairman believes this program will significantly contribute to reducing out-of-school children and boosting public primary school enrollment.

Here’s a breakdown of the items to be distributed:

  • 10,000 Cartons of Indomie Noodles
  • Ondo State Sunshine Rice and Pupuru
  • Garri (combination packs)
