Movie Premiere Stunt Backfires: Eniola Ajao Defends Co-Star Femi Adebayo After Bobrisky Award Sparks Outrage

Nollywood actress Eniola Ajao is scrambling to control the damage after a controversial stunt at her recent movie premiere. Ajao awarded the best dressed female prize to the controversial internet personality Bobrisky, a decision that has sparked outrage online.

In an interview with Arise TV, Ajao attempted to justify the award, claiming it was a publicity stunt. “It was all a joke,” Ajao said. “We just wanted to have fun, we wanted people to talk because my team and I decided that we needed people to talk about this movie.”

Ajao went on to explain her thought process. “I’ve been doing it all alone and I wasn’t getting the help I felt I needed so I was like ‘okay what do we do for people to talk about this film?’ And we decided that let’s give it to Bob because he’s always a controversial person.”

However, Ajao’s explanation has done little to quell the public’s anger. Many feel the stunt was disrespectful and insensitive. Many expressed disappointment, with some like actress Dayo Amusa taking to social media: “This is disrespectful to all women who were at the event.” Social media has been flooded with criticism, with some calling for a boycott of Ajao’s movie.

Ajao also attempted to deflect blame from her co-star Femi Adebayo, who appeared alongside Bobrisky at the event. “Femi Adebayo is my boss, he wasn’t even aware of so many things that were going on,” Ajao said. “I only called him to help me announce, he wasn’t part of the judges or anything. People should please not be disappointed in him, he’s a very nice person.”

Commenting on what Femi Adebayo went through after presenting the best dressed award to Bobrisky at the movie premiere, Dayo said :”For every action there is a reaction”. Adebayo’s wife has entered the fray, defending him and accusing Dayo of being a ”hidden enemy”

Whether Ajao’s apology and explanation will be enough to salvage her movie’s reputation remains to be seen. However, this latest development ensures the controversy surrounding the Bobrisky award will continue to dominate headlines for the foreseeable future.
