Roy Madu Conquers Africa, Takes Nigerian Music to The Global Stage

Roy Madu, is a singer, scriptwriter, an actor, a comedian, a movie producer. And an entrepreneur. He is the originator of the brand of music called Marinba Music and his stage name is “The Towncrier”. Roy Madu the Towncrier combines music and movie in diaspora to make Africa proud.

Nigerians have come to be synonymous with excellence abroad. They get into a new society with different opportunities that they always take a full advantage of to bring themselves to the next level. Roy Madu, the Town Crier is one of these Nigerians. He started his journey of excellence with high ambitions, from Lagos,where he livedto leaving Nigeria for better opportunities in the USA. This sojourn gave Roy Madu a new and better opportunity, unique to its society.

Born into a humble home, Roy Madu has always wanted more,there is always something next, always something to be achieved and as a Nigerian who has his eyes in the sky,the world outside Nigeria needs to be conquered.

Promptly after his relocating to the US, answering the call of more opportunities,delving into his music and filmmaking kept him on the radar of authority figures in African communities in diaspora. Before long he was spreading his messages through performances and film. Finally, he was doing something he loves more. But even this was not enough for him. He was given a Diaspora Award for Songwriting for My Moi-Moi, and his movie, “I Surrender All” got awarded “The Best Diaspora movie of the year” by key figures in the diasporan community.

Roy Madu considers this a nod and well accepted praise for his work. “This is the realization of a dream,the manifestation of visions. That people would identify with what I was doing. I suddenly knew that whatever I valued, they valued, because we are all the same people from similar backgrounds with the some differences.”

Bemoaning the political and socio-economic problems inherent in Africa, through the universal language of music, the Towncrier tries to project a better understanding of humanity from the African cultural perspective by exploring the communicative and entertainment value of Nigerian artistic heritage. His brand of music rendered in Pidgin English and Igbo Vernacular all his works are resonate with the plight of the oppressed people of Africa. As an actor Roy Madu has featured in various movies in USA and Canada. On the flip side, Roy Madu with a Bachelor of Science degree from University of Maryland University College and a Masters degree from University of Phoenix has more than a decade experience in the criminal justice sector as he works as a para-law enforcement agent with the state of Maryland.

The multi-talented entertainer starred in a movie he wrote and produced, titled, I Surrender All”. This is a story of Jasper, (Roy Madu) a psycho who was able to lure Kisha (Vida) Darko), a tender-hearted lady into marriage with his charm, charisma and generosity. But little did she know that behind that charm, lies a great deceit. And the action evolves. Talents from Nigeria, Ghana, Cameroon, Sierra Leone, Senegal, Guinea, India and USA converged in this action-packed African story set in Africa but shot in USA. It embodies diversity in romance, religion and culture. “I Surrender All” is an action thriller, a religious drama and a love story rolled in one heck of a movie.  The movie is written and produced by Roy Madu for Marinba Productions, directed and edited by Boyce Uboh for Boycee Films. This African story told in a western style motion picture, stars Roy Madu, the TownCrier of Afro Marinba hits fame, Vida Darko and Paschal Atuma of “American Nurse” fame KingselyOgideh of Kellogic Entertainment and Fred Idika of Eagle Eye Productions/Xculture Promotions. SoMarinba Productions in conjunction with BOYCEE FILMS captured an epoch-making film, “I SURRENDER ALL”.
