Ex-Defense Chief Irabor Demands Cooperation from Banex Plaza in Soldier Assault Probe

Former Chief of Defense Staff, General Lucky Irabor, has called on the leadership of Banex Plaza in Abuja to cooperate fully with the ongoing investigation into the assault on Nigerian soldiers at the popular shopping complex.

This demand comes after a reported clash between some traders and soldiers stationed at the plaza in Wuse 2 area of the capital city. Details of the incident remain unclear, but it has sparked outrage and drawn the attention of the former military chief.

In an interview with Arise News, General Irabor condemned the attack, stating, “An attack on soldiers is an attack on the state.” He emphasized the importance of the plaza’s management cooperating with investigators “to fish out those who committed this act.” This cooperation, he said, should involve providing any relevant information or security footage that could aid in identifying the perpetrators.

The former defense chief also weighed in on the ongoing closure of Banex Plaza, a decision reportedly taken by the military following the assault. While not explicitly calling for the plaza’s reopening, Irabor did express his support for the action.

The Nigerian public is closely following developments in this case. Many Nigerians condemn any violence against security personnel, while others await a clearer picture of the events that transpired at Banex Plaza.

This is a developing story. Stay tuned for further updates as they become available.
