NSCDC Destroys Over 100 Illegal Refineries In The Last Two Years

The Commandant General, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Ahmed Audi, on Wednesday, said no fewer than 100 illegal refineries were destroyed.

In the cause of destroying the 100 illegal refineries, 200 suspects were arrested in the last two years.

The CG disclosed this at the second CG’s conference in Abuja.

Audi urged the NSCDC personnels to redouble their efforts in tackling oil theft and pipeline vandalism.

Reacting the efforts of the corps, the CG said, “Over 100 illegal refineries destroyed and over 200 suspects arrested in two years.”

“We also need to intensify our efforts in the protection of critical national assets and infrastructure, tackle the challenge of oil theft and pipeline vandalism, ensure protection of farmers and farmland to guarantee food security, protect facilities in the power, telecoms and transportation sector with an emphasis on rail infrastructure, among others.

“We must begin to deploy new strategies in tackling the spate of insecurity in the land. In this direction, the corps has prioritised training and retraining, as well as procurement of modern operational and communication equipment in our determination to further enhance the capacity of the corps.”

Audi said the NSCDC must continue to take proactive and pragmatic steps “through covert and overt operations, discrete investigation and intelligence gathering to track down those who engage in acts capable of undermining the security and integrity of our collective patrimony.”

He promised to continuously support operatives.
