Accomplice Macheted by Kidnapping Ring in Desperate Cover-Up Attempt

A kidnapping gang operating in the Akoko area of Ondo State resorted to brutal violence against one of their own in an attempt to silence a potential witness. The victim, who had reportedly confessed to his crimes to the Ondo State Security Network (Amotekun Corps), was attacked with machetes by his fellow kidnappers.

“In our efforts to apprehend the criminals, the kidnapper who had already confessed to the crime was severely attacked by his accomplices,” said Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, Corps Commander of the Amotekun Corps. “Thankfully, our officers were able to intervene and rush the victim to the hospital for treatment.”

The swift action by Amotekun officials not only saved the accomplice’s life but also secured crucial evidence. “The rescued individual has provided valuable information regarding the kidnapping syndicate’s operations,” Adeleye continued. “He has confessed to multiple kidnapping activities across Akoko, Kogi, and Edo states. The search for the mastermind behind this ring is ongoing.”

This incident highlights the ruthless nature of kidnapping gangs and the importance of Amotekun’s work in combating this serious crime. The Amotekun Corps, a regional security initiative established in 2019, has played a significant role in curbing criminal activities in Ondo State.

While Amotekun’s success in rescuing the accomplice is a positive development, authorities are urging residents of Ondo State to remain vigilant. Be aware of your surroundings, especially when travelling at night. Inform trusted individuals about your whereabouts and expected arrival times. Avoid isolated areas, especially on foot and if approached by suspicious individuals, do not resist, report the incident to the authorities immediately.
