In a daring act of self-defence, a group of passengers travelling on the Talata Mafara-Gusau highway in Zamfara state successfully overpowered and disarmed bandits who attempted to abduct them on Wednesday.

Reports indicate that the passengers, including a family traveling for a wedding ceremony, were ambushed by two armed bandits on motorcycles. The bandits reportedly targeted a young woman and her family, attempting to force them into the nearby forest.

However, in a surprising turn of events, the passengers refused to back down. According to an eyewitness, “the passengers rallied together and launched an attack on one of the bandits.” The ensuing struggle resulted in the death of one bandit, while the other managed to escape, leaving behind his AK-47 rifle.

Sadly, the incident wasn’t entirely without casualties. One passenger reportedly suffered a heart attack due to the traumatic experience and later died in the hospital.

The remaining passengers, shaken but unharmed, managed to reach a nearby military checkpoint where they handed over the seized weapon and reported the incident.
