Tragedy Strikes Enugu as Gunmen Claim Lives of Law Enforcement Officers

In a harrowing incident that has shaken the communities of Orba and Eha-Alumona in the Nsukka and Udenu local government areas of Enugu State, four individuals, comprising two police officers and two Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) officials, have fallen victim to a brutal attack by unidentified gunmen.

The assailants, whose motives remain unclear, launched their attack in the early hours, leaving a trail of sorrow and raising concerns about security in the region. The deceased officers were reportedly performing their duties when they were ambushed and killed.

Governor Peter Mbah, in a statement, expressed his deep condolences to the families of the fallen officers and vowed to bring the perpetrators to justice. “This heinous act will not go unpunished. We are working closely with law enforcement agencies to ensure that those responsible are apprehended and face the full wrath of the law,” he declared.

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, while confirming the incident, stated, “We are deeply saddened by the loss of our colleagues. The police force is currently conducting a thorough investigation to track down the assailants.”

The attack has prompted a heightened state of alert in the affected areas, with security forces on the lookout for the gunmen. The community has been urged to cooperate with the authorities by providing any information that could lead to the capture of the attackers.
