How Queen Blessing Ebigieson Made 750 Widows Smile In Ibadan, Awards Lagos Journalist, Samuel Abulude, Others

Actress and Ambassador, Queen Blessing Ebigieson and her team under the Queen Blessing Foundatiion QBF, really made the day of more than 750 widows who converged at the palace of Olubadan of Ibadan, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Saliu Akanmu Olasupo Adetunji, located at Popoyemoja area of Ibadan

The event which was a Valentine special with the theme: “Celebrating the widows and Aged women” attracted so many of them who had besieged the Palace even before the event started.

The convener, Queen Blessing Ebigieson who is an indigene of Okpella, Estako East Local Government, Edo state is a woman with a golden heart and great empathy for the needy especially widows and orphans.

The Olubadan of Ibadan, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Saliu Akanmu Olasupo Adetunji, showered encomiums on QBE and praised her for the courage and loving heart to empower the widows. He said, “I appreciate you for what you are doing for our people, the widows. I am excited about this and pray for you that Olodumare will continue to bless you. ” The Olubadan went on to participate in the hours long program which included a dancing contest among the widows and winners went on with prizes including bags of rice after which they all went home with cloth wrappers and were feted.

Earlier, Queen Blessing Ebigieson who is an actress cum movie producer was ushered in by the anchor, MC Shakara and she noted that the empowerment scheme which is now in its 7th edition was her way of identifying with the needy. In her address, the Humanitarian and Peace Ambassador thanked the chief host, the monarch and his wife for the opportunity. “QBF is determined to continue putting smiles on the faces of widows around the country every year. What better day than the 14th of February, Valentine’s day to host these very special people in our society as it is to show them love, make them very happy with food, drinks, music , dance and shower then with gifts. I am a lady who knows first hand what it means to be poor as I was once in those shoes. That’s why I commit to keep the poor happy and give them hope that a better and brighter tomorrow is possible”, she said.

One of the aged women who benefited from the program, Princess Adeola Adeniyi, 60 commended QBE and said others should borrow a leaf from her as you don’t need to be a millionaire before you reach out. Also, Alhaja Oloye Adeyemi, the Otun Iyalode Ikoloba said something like this has not happened at the palace and praised QBE for bringing smiles to hundreds of widows.

Among dignitaries that came was actress Moji Oyetayo Mohips popular for the role, Mama Ajasco who rendered support to her friend and colleague. Among those that were given recognition and awards were
King Wasiu Ayinde Marshall, the Mayegun of Yorubaland; Chief Rasheed Ladoja, former Governor of Oyo State; Billionaire, Hon Prince Ned Nwoko, Olubadan and his wife.

She also supported men and women that had been part of QBF over the years. They include Mr Samuel Abulude, journalist from Leadership newspapers, Mr Eniayewu Olajide, a reputable photographer, Prince Saheed Ahmed Ajeduntan, Hon Monsuru Alao Batola and Mrs Oluchi Uko. The widows empowerment initiative which held last year at Ooni of Ife’s palace is one of the NGOs that put smiles on widows’ mouth across the nation and is set to get bigger in its 8th year next year as QBF receive coporate sponsors.
